Spelling Workout: Level B Student Edition - 2nd Grade
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-09-22 Summary: great resource ... We just started using level B for our second grader. Our boy is an excellent reader. He reads a variety of items from Berenstain Bears books (picture and chapter books) to technical explanations (in grown-up books) of how aircraft, trains, and submarines were developed and how they work. I had hoped that spelling would come easily from all that reading. It hasn't. My boy enjoys the Spelling Workout lessons. They are short and entertaining. He really enjoys the proofreading exercises, which reinforce not only spelling ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2009-09-07 Summary: Good Spelling Serires ... Spelling Workout is a good series for spelling. Both of my kids have done very well with it and they have become good spellers. My only criticism is the writing section at the end. I don't think that they are very helpful. I think that they are too difficult to complete for young kids in just a sentence or two (all you have room for). Also, as a believer in the classical model, I think they are just a bit too contrived at times. I would much prefer a dictation type section or copywork to practice correct grammar and ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-03-31 Summary: So far...so good...BETTER than anything else we've tried! ... So far, we've enjoyed this spelling curriculum. My son is 7 and he doesn't like a lot of "bells and whistles". This is to the point but holds his interest with pictures and a mix-up of activities in each lesson. ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-09-11 Summary: Excellent program! ... I purchased this for my 7 year old who is in second grade (homeschool). He really loves the workbook and wants to do all the activities for the week in one sitting. The words are not too hard. I can easily see him finishing and moving on to the third grade level before finishing second grade. Each week has a spelling tip/rule which the words fall under. For those who would like to know. . . the words in the first lesson are fox, cut hill, wind, put, all moon, saw, tell, new (which seem very easy for 2nd grade). Week ...more

Spelling Workout: Level D
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-11-02 Summary: Amazing Spelling Program ... I homeschool and have been through many spelling programs that don't give much practice. This program is a wonderful find that incorporates a reading section with spelling words, practice activities, a written passage to correct (with proofreading marks taught along the way), and a writing prompt. I currently use this for my 3rd grader who is a bit advanced in spelling. She never complains about spelling lessons, and gets 100% on all 20 words each week. I can't praise this series enough! ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-01-21 Summary: Nice spelling book ... This is a traditional spelling book. There is a list of words for the lesson and worksheets to reinforce the spelling rules. There's reviews so that past lessons aren't forgotten. I bought this book because I like the other levels in the series. This books fill the need for spelling. I'm still looking for spelling books that are a little more challenging, but until then I'm happy with Spelling Workout. ...more

[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-09-07 Summary: One of the great books to learn basic EKG strip interpretation ... I am one of those people who sometimes quickly forget what I read if I deem the subject difficult or intimidating. Often I have to get more than one reference, but this is one of the better books on learning basic EKGs. Lots of practice strips, flash cards, and thorough explanations. Once I learned the KEY differences of certain rhythms to simplify recognition then read the WHY OR HOW it happens, it made learnng EKGs so much easier, at least it did for me. I used to have such a mental block with learning EKGs because ...more
