[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-07-14 Summary: Great way to either mix up or supplement your workout ... Great book with illustrations of hundreds of exercises. Furthermore if gives you multiple options and techniques so you aren't doing the same thing over and over again. I was doing P90x and actually memorized some the workouts, however I like this book because on the typical breaks on the video. I can maybe do a another type of move that's not part of the program. Even if you don't have weight equipment it tells you common household items you can use. Good investment. ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-03-23 Summary: Finally...A Workout That's Not BORING ... I recently had foot surgery, and I was on crutches for two and a half months. I found out just HOW out of shape I was. I'm a woman, and like a lot of women, I was doing mainly cardio, not strength training. I have to have surgery on my other foot next fall, so I decided I'm NOT going to get my butt kicked like I did this time, because being on crutches is exhausting. But I also didn't want a "typical woman's workout plan." Most of those are, "Lift a three pound weight three times, then go have a Diet Coke." That won't ...more

Just like with a workout, you'll get out of your exercise/diet log what you put into it. ...more

Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-06-10 Summary: Push Yourself ... I went back to swimming after a 25 year hiatus. Running and biking were no longer options for me. A year after diving back in, I had a set workout that I liked to do -- EVERY time I hit the pool. For my 46th birthday, someone bought this for me off my wishlist and six months after starting to use this book, I still thank the person who bought it for me several times a month. And the gratitude is genuine. Looking to shake my workout up a bit, this book rocked my entire workout program. I thought the resistance training ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-04-26 Summary: Awesome Workout Book for Swimmers ... Great book...a little difficult to understand the abbreviations and "language" of the book at first. I recommend taking the time to read the intro and definitions in the book, then taking a look at the workouts to figure out what everything means prior to actually swimming. Tried out the Distance Free 1A swimming yesterday...got quite a workout from that! Can't wait to do the IM workout. ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-10-22 Summary: Great Book ... This book is fantastic. The workouts are great and easy to customize to the distance I want to go. I've been using the workout plans and the variety is great. I cannot say enough good things about this book. ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-07-15 Summary: An excellent way to spice up your workouts ... I purchased this book to add variety to my current workouts. It does an excellent job. I'm an experienced swimmer (high school and college), so I have no problem with the stroke workouts. Someone just learning how to swim all four strokes might feel differently. For each workout there is an "A" version (typically between 4 and 5 thousand yards) and a "B" version (3 to 4 thousand yards). Virtually all the sets are on rest intervals, not explicit times, so my workout buddy who is a little slower than I am gets to do ...more
Editorial Reviews ... Product Description | Written by two former coaches for the U.S. National Swim Team, Workouts in a Binder for Swimmers, Triathletes, and Coaches extends beyond freestyle to include other strokes for masters and collegiate swimmers and coaches, as well as triathletes seeking skill-building in the off-season. The workout categories, which are more diverse than Swim Workouts for Triathletes (the previous book in this series), include distance, middle distance, sprint, individual medley, and stroke. Competitive...more
