Summary: Perfect basic yummy practice for beginners
... If you are brand new to bellydance, I highly recommend this DVD. I have had several bellydance DVDs, and use different ones for different reasons, but I'd rate this one very high in the "practice the basics while enjoying yourself" category ... it gives a very nice fundamental dance vocabulary for your body and dance, to practice and build on as time goes by ... I find all of the teachers and the instructions to be very pleasant and good as well ... There are pointers and some instruction, most especially in the technique

Summary: START WITH THE TUTORIAL
... If you start the dvd from the beginning, it starts with circles, and can be too fast paced. I tried it once and put it away for nearly a year. Then I took it out again, and realized you have to deliberately start with the tutorial, and I highly recommend it. It takes you step by step through the movements, and the video can be too hard to follow without it.

This is Cathe's idea of a beginner workout, and the choreography is probably what she means, because in comparison to her more coordinating routines, I guess she should could say this, but make no mistake, this is not for a beginner. The moves are not hard to do, but it will nuke your legs into flames! YOU WERE WARNED! Plus, it's got a great premix with some intense lower body work mixed in the step routine, making it a few minutes longer, and I'm not even trying to go there yet. The nice thing is that there are about 5-6 different sections to the workout, and you can choose which one you do. The not so nice thing about it is that if you want the full hour workout, every 5-10 min, after each section, you have to go and choose the next segment. However, the ball, itself, has become my computer chair. That's nice. :) ...more
