EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) - An omega-3 fatty acid found in cold-water fish and fish-oil; a precursor to "good" eicosanoids.
Stomach Banding - surgical reduction of stomach, but to lesser degree than bypass
Anaerobic exercise - An intense or fast activity where you become breathless. Your body can't process oxygen fast enough for use. Literally, "without oxygen."
Asthma, exercised-induced - A constriction of the bronchial passages during exercise only that causes wheezing, coughing, labored breathing, and shortness of breath. Can usually be remedied by physician-prescribed inhalers. Not a reason to stop exercising!
BMR (basal metabolic rate) - the rate of energy used for metabolism when the body is at complete rest - closely related to the muscle mass. Usually measured by the amount of oxygen consumed. Acknowledged by experts to be difficult to measure accurately
Kickboard - small foam board used in swimming to develop leg power and speed. Held under the chest so that the arms are not involved in the swimming stroke
Lactic acid - Some of the "waste" your body makes when you exercise hard (anaerobic) and you feel heavy or quivery. The body uses it to make more energy later.
Tissue - a collection of cells of the same or very similar type

Teedums already gave a fabulous breakdown of each of the three workouts, so I'll just add that out of the many weight-lifting DVD's I own, this series and Cathe F's Gym Styles series are my favorites -- Cathe makes weight-lifting fun and enjoyable. Although Cathe recommends doing these workouts for three weeks at a time because of their intensity, I've gotten my best results doing them for four to six weeks, with two or three days of cardio thrown in. I am 4'10" and this is perfect. All of the exercises for toning and strenghtening are so much easier now that I have the right ball with which to work.
