Summary: Workable, consistent spelling for youngsters
... I have tried many different spelling curriculums over the years amongst my seven children. The Spelling Workout series captures their attention. It isn't too long or too short. The words gradually increase in number throughout the lower elementary grades. It doesn't overburdened the kids. They enjoy the activities. It is parent friendly. Much of the work can be done independently if the child is a fluent reader. There is adequate reinforcement for learning the words in a reasonable amount of time.

Summary: loved it
... I've used this for 2 of my children and it was a great starting spelling book. It gave them the confidence they needed to excel. It was just the right level for any early emergent reader. The book is brightly colored and fun. It works well with the MCP phonics, which is one of my favorite phonic programs. I have home-schooled for 12 years and have used many phonics and spelling books and MCP is my favorite.

This program is a wonderful find that incorporates a reading section with spelling words, practice activities, a written passage to correct (with proofreading marks taught along the way), and a writing prompt. I currently use this for my 3rd grader who is a bit advanced in spelling. She never complains about spelling lessons, and gets 100% on all 20 words each week. I can't praise this series enough! ...more

There's reviews so that past lessons aren't forgotten. I bought this book because I like the other levels in the series. This books fill the need for spelling. I'm still looking for spelling books that are a little more challenging, but until then I'm happy with Spelling Workout. ...more

My kids, ages 11, 9 and 7, have always been home educated.... they consistently test at well above their grade levels in Spelling and I believe that is thanks to these fabulous books.
